Auditions for the finalists of the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians will be held in Moscow and St. Petersburg in January 2023. 27 young musicians from Russia, China, the Republic of Korea and the USA were selected for participation in the Third (Final) round.

Auditions for the finalists of the competition will be held according to the following schedule:

January 9, 2023: Cello Section

For the first time in the history of the competition, the first two rounds were held online. 128 young musicians from 14 countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, R. Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Turkey, Italy, Lithuania, Sweden, USA) took part in the first two rounds of the competition.

The competition is held by the Russia’s oldest public organization – the Association of Tchaikovsky Competition Stars with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and the State Tchaikovsky Memorial Musical Museum-Reserve.

International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, first held in Moscow in 1992 and celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022, is the world’s largest professional competition for young academic musicians. Competition auditions are held in three specialties: piano, violin, cello.
