Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and the need for quarantine for all persons entering the territory of the PRC, the Organizing Committee of the XI International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians decided to hold the first and second rounds of the Competition online in October 2022. The third round of the Competition will be held in the format of offline auditions in Chengdu (PRC) in December 2022.

The International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022, is the world’s largest professional Competition for young academic musicians. Since 1990, the Competition has been held 10 times in the cities of Russia, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, Japan, Korea and China. The XI International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians is held by the Association of Tchaikovsky Competition Stars and Chengdu Zhongchai Media & Cultural Сommunication Co., Ltd. with the support of the Chengdu City Government, Moscow State Conservatory and Russian Gnesins Academy of Music. The Association of Tchaikovsky Competition Stars is the oldest public non-profit organization in Russia.
